T-35A 715-61

T-35A 715-61 was the first T-35A to be factory-produced with a P-40 AA mount. The tank was made in 1936 and was the thirty-first T-35 produced. The tank’s technical features include the late driver’s vision and entrance hatch and the late exhaust. The tank was issued to the 68th Tank Regiment when the war broke out. The tank was lost in the village of Sudova Vyshnia on 24 June 1941 due to gearbox failure.

This tank was one of the most recently identified tanks, along with 988-17. Leading experts on T-35s agree that this tank was most likely lost in the Ukrainian village of Sudova Vyshnia (Судова Вишня). This village was the location of the 68th Tank Regiment’s repair centre and was also the next town along from Gorodok, the repair centre for the 67th Tank Regiment. Photographs of this tank show it lost next to a fence and two cottages. There is a road behind the tank that has not yet been identified.

The tank faced south with photographs of the hills in front of the tank clearly visible. The tank was seen in this position for the remainder of the war, slowly being stripped of parts over time. It is known that the antenna was removed fully leaving just the arms in January 1942 as the photographic evidence depicts this.
